Bridge Collapse in Jharkhand: Vinay Kumar Speaks on Incident

In Jharkhand’s Giridih, a bridge under construction collapsed due to heavy rain. Vinay Kumar, Executive Engineer of the State Construction Department, stated that the bridge and road were sanctioned in 2019 and more details will emerge after an investigation.

Earlier on Saturday night, a portion of the under-construction bridge collapsed and a pillar got tilted due to heavy rain in Jharkhand’s Giridih district. Further investigation is underway.

In the past nine days, five bridges have collapsed in Araria, Siwan, East Champaran, Kishanganj, and Madhubani districts. The first incident was reported on June 18 in Araria, and the latest one occurred in Madhubani. These incidents have raised significant concerns about infrastructure safety in the region.

Last year in June, a portion of a temporary bridge built on River Ganga in the Vaishali district of Bihar was partly washed away by strong winds.
