Brave Soldiers Sankara Rao Gottapu and Shahnawaz Ahmad Bhat Lose Lives in Ladakh Accident
Two Indian Army soldiers, Sankara Rao Gottapu and Shahnawaz Ahmad Bhat, lost their lives while repairing military equipment in Ladakh on July 11, 2024. Gottapu sustained fatal injuries from an accidental component burst, and Bhat, despite being airlifted for treatment, succumbed to his injuries.
The Indian Army expressed deep condolences and saluted their bravery. The Fire and Fury Corps stated, “GOC Fire and Fury Corps and All Ranks salute the Bravehearts who made supreme sacrifice, in the line of duty in Ladakh on 11 July 24 and offer deep condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief.”
This incident follows a recent terrorist ambush in Jammu and Kashmir on July 8, which resulted in the deaths of five soldiers. In response, security measures have been heightened for the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, with multiple security forces deployed along the National Highway in Udhampur.
