Bomb Threats on Air India Flights in Nepal: No Explosives Found
On Saturday, the Nepal Police confirmed that no suspicious or explosive objects were found on an Air India flight bound for New Delhi from Kathmandu. The flight, AI 215, had arrived from New Delhi to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport with 168 passengers. Shortly after landing, a bomb threat was received, prompting a security protocol activation. Passengers and luggage were thoroughly checked, causing delays.
Earlier in the week, another Air India flight, AI 216, also received a bomb threat at the same airport. This was the second hoax call within a week. The Nepal Army bomb squad and the Nepal Police Canine division conducted a thorough search, but no explosives were found. The situation was declared normal after the search.
Officials, including Kiran Bajracharya from the Valley Police Office and Brigadier General Gaurav Kumar KC from the Nepal Army, confirmed the absence of any dangerous objects. The repeated false threats have caused concern among passengers.
