Bodoland Mohotsav: A Celebration of Peace and Culture
Introduction
The first-ever Bodoland Mohotsav is set to take place in New Delhi on November 15 and 16 at the SAI Indira Gandhi Stadium. The festival’s theme is “Ethos of Peace and Harmony, an integral part for Nation Building.”
Event Details
This two-day event will showcase the vibrant culture, literature, language, and tourism potential of Assam’s Bodoland region. The festival is organized by the All Bodo Students Union, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dularai Boro Harimu Afad, and Gandhi Hindustani Sahitya Sabha, with support from the Bodoland Territorial Council administration.
Special Guests
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to the inaugural session. Other expected guests include Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Region Pramod Boro.
Significance
The festival celebrates the peace restored in Bodoland following the Bodo Peace Accord signed on January 27, 2020. Bodoland, once known for violence, is now peaceful, with insurgents returning to the mainstream.
Cultural Highlights
On November 16, the festival will celebrate the 73rd foundation day of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha with a cultural rally from Rajghat to India Gate. Discussions on the National Education Policy and the promotion of Bodoland’s culture and tourism will also take place.
