Blast in Balochistan’s Pishin District: Two Children and a Woman Killed, 13 Injured

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday in Balochistan’s Pishin district, where a blast claimed the lives of two children and a woman, while 13 others were injured, including two policemen. The explosion took place at the main market near Surkhab Chowk.

This attack is part of a series of violent incidents targeting police officials and checkposts, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The violence has escalated since the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended a ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022 and vowed to target security forces.

According to Wakeel Sherani, the medical superintendent at Pishin Civil Hospital, 14 people were initially injured in the blast. Thirteen of the wounded were referred to the Quetta Trauma Centre, where a woman later succumbed to her injuries. Five of the injured are in serious condition, two have minor injuries, and three are still receiving treatment. Two victims have been discharged.

Pishin City Station House Officer (SHO) Mujibur Rehman stated that the explosive material was likely planted in a motorcycle, damaging three vehicles. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Bomb Disposal Squad are investigating the incident.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, stating that terrorists who target children do not deserve to be called humans. He directed that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment and called for those responsible to be identified and punished.

This attack follows a recent roadside explosion in Noshki district that injured two pedestrians and a blast last month in Pishin that injured six people, including three CTD officials.
