BJP’s Tarun Chugh Criticizes Omar Abdullah’s Government Over Article 370 Resolution

In Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh issued a strong warning to the Omar Abdullah government. He accused them of undermining democracy by using disruptive and violent tactics. Chugh was reacting to BJP members being removed from the Assembly as they opposed a resolution on Article 370. He described this as an attempt to silence the people’s voice.

Chugh also objected to Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh, an Awami Ittehad Party MLA, for bringing a banner into the Assembly supporting the resolution. He claimed this act could revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir under the guise of Article 370. Chugh warned that such actions could embolden extremist elements and undermine the democratic process.

Chugh criticized the Congress for their silence on the issue, alleging that the National Conference and Congress have allied to disrupt democracy and revive terrorism in the region. He accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of trying to subvert democratic institutions to gain media attention and please foreign interests.

Chugh reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to the unity and integrity of Jammu and Kashmir, vowing to prevent any attempts to return to past conflicts. He urged the Omar Abdullah government to abandon its alleged pro-Pakistan agenda and focus on policies to benefit the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Former union minister Smriti Irani also criticized the resolution, calling it a divisive move by the Congress-led INDIA bloc that supports extremism. She argued that the resolution disregards decisions made by Parliament and the Supreme Court on Article 370 and questioned the INDIA bloc’s stance on terrorism and disadvantaged groups’ rights.
