Chandigarh, India – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has accused the National Conference (NC) and the Congress of promoting Pakistan’s agenda during the Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) assembly elections. Chugh, who is also in charge of the J-K elections for the BJP, criticized Pakistan Defence Minister Khwaja Asif’s statements, claiming they exposed the NC and Congress’s alignment with Pakistan.

Chugh stated, “His statement has completely exposed the NC and the Congress for pursuing the Pakistan agenda.” He further alleged that the Abdullah family of the NC and the Gandhi family of the Congress have been influenced by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to disrupt the region.

Chugh demanded an explanation from the Abdullahs and the Gandhis regarding their alleged connections with Pakistan ISI. He said, “It was reprehensible that an anti-national alliance has been dancing to the tunes of Pakistan forces to fool the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” He also accused the Abdullahs of following Pakistan’s directives to hinder J-K’s development.

Chugh warned the people of J-K against falling into what he called an “anti-national trap” during the assembly elections. He emphasized that the BJP strongly opposes this alliance.

In response, former J-K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that Pakistan should not interfere in India’s electoral process. He said, “What does Pakistan have to do with us? We are not even a part of Pakistan, let them take care of their country. I don’t think they should interfere in our elections or comment on our elections. They should save their democracy, we are participating in ours.”

Earlier, Pakistan Defence Minister Khwaja Asif, speaking on Geo News, suggested that the NC-Congress alliance and Pakistan share the same stance on the restoration of Article 370 and 35A in J-K. He claimed that Article 370 could be reinstated if the NC-Congress alliance comes to power.
