BJP’s Shehzad Poonawalla Criticizes AAP as Kailash Gahlot Resigns

In New Delhi, BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, accusing the party of shifting from fighting to engaging in corruption. This statement followed the resignation of Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot from AAP. Poonawalla claimed that AAP has transformed from Anna Hazare’s leadership to a party focused on political gains, leading to the departure of many senior members.

AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh countered, alleging that Gahlot’s resignation was due to BJP’s pressure, including a Rs 112 crore allegation and multiple raids by the Enforcement Directorate. Singh suggested that Gahlot had no choice but to leave AAP.

Kailash Gahlot, in his resignation, expressed concerns over AAP’s direction, criticizing the party for prioritizing political ambitions over serving the people. He highlighted unfulfilled promises, such as cleaning the Yamuna River, and internal challenges that have affected service delivery in Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi accepted Gahlot’s resignation, which comes ahead of the 2025 assembly polls.
