BJP’s Pradeep Bhandari Confident Amid Tight Race in Jammu and Kashmir Elections

In New Delhi, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari expressed confidence in the party’s pro-development agenda gaining strong support in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted similar trends in Chhattisgarh and Haryana, expecting a BJP victory in J-K. Bhandari dismissed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as a significant contender due to their low vote share in previous elections.

Despite exit polls predicting a hung assembly, with the National Conference-Congress alliance slightly ahead, Bhandari remained optimistic about BJP’s performance. The Axis My India exit poll suggested the NC-Congress alliance could win 35-45 seats, while BJP might secure 24-34 seats. The majority mark is 46 seats, and no party is predicted to surpass it.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta mentioned ongoing talks with like-minded parties, confident of BJP’s success. BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh also expressed optimism, dismissing exit polls as mere predictions. National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah criticized the exit polls, emphasizing the importance of actual results on October 8.

Various projections showed differing outcomes, with the NC-Congress alliance and BJP both having potential paths to victory. The Election Commission reported a 63.88% voter turnout, with results expected on October 8.
