BJP’s Manoj Tiwari Criticizes AAP Over Delhi’s Air Pollution

In New Delhi, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for failing to address Delhi’s worsening air quality. He accused the AAP government of lacking intent to reduce pollution over the past decade and urged citizens to support BJP in the upcoming assembly elections. Tiwari stated, “The AAP government wakes up only when there is a problem.”

BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla echoed Tiwari’s sentiments, blaming AAP for turning Delhi into a “poisonous gas chamber.” He questioned the effectiveness of measures like the bio decomposer and criticized the ban on firecrackers during Diwali, while ignoring other pollution sources like stubble burning in Punjab.

Poonawalla further accused AAP of risking citizens’ health by failing to address vehicular, industrial, and dust pollution. He highlighted the non-functional smoke towers, despite significant investment.

Currently, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) is in the ‘Poor’ to ‘Very Poor’ categories, with areas like Anand Vihar and Dwarka showing high pollution levels. The Central Pollution Control Board warns that prolonged exposure to such air can cause respiratory issues.

In response, the Delhi Government announced the strict implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan-1 (GRAP-1) to combat rising pollution levels.
