BJP’s Locket Chatterjee Demands Probe Against Mamata Banerjee Over Trainee Doctor’s Death
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 5: BJP West Bengal General Secretary Locket Chatterjee has demanded an investigation into Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata was an organized crime.
Speaking on Thursday, Chatterjee said, “Earlier we have seen that Kolkata police was sending summons to the people saying that they are spreading fake news. Now, we can see that Kolkata police itself is spreading fake news.”
She added, “The CM should be inquired first to get to the truth. It was an organized crime. Sandip Ghosh has big names with him, even Kalighat is linked with it. Why did the TMC government send 21 advocates to the Supreme Court?”
Earlier, BJP national spokesperson Amit Malviya cited a letter dated August 10 allegedly signed by former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, ordering renovation of the incident site a day after the trainee doctor was raped and murdered. Malviya called it “explosive” and accused the West Bengal government and the hospital of lying about the renovation date.
In a post on X, Malviya stated, “This is explosive. Yet another piece of evidence, which establishes that Dr. Sandip Ghosh, now arrested, disgraced former Principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, ordered repair/renovation of the toilet, near the Seminar Room (scene of crime) on 10th Aug, a day after the young lady doctor was brutally raped and murdered (she was killed on the intervening night of August 8th/9th).”
Malviya further targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the hospital administration, and the Kolkata Police, accusing them of colluding to destroy evidence and sanitize the crime scene. He reiterated the demand for the Chief Minister’s resignation and alleged that much of the evidence had already been destroyed.
In the alleged letter dated August 10, the Executive Engineer was ordered to take up repair/renovation/reconstruction of on-duty Doctors’ Room along with separate attached toilets in all departments of RG Kar Hospital, Kolkata on an urgent basis. The letter stated that there are “deficiencies” in on-duty Doctors’ Rooms and separate attached toilets in various departments.
The body of the trainee doctor was found in the seminar room of the hospital on August 9, sparking nationwide protests. A civic volunteer was arrested shortly after, and the CBI also arrested Dr. Sandip Ghosh for alleged financial misconduct at the medical establishment.
