BJP’s Dinesh Sharma Criticizes Delhi’s Firecracker Ban During Hindu Festivals
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dinesh Sharma has criticized the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government for its ban on firecrackers during Hindu festivals. He questioned why the ban is not enforced during Christmas or New Year, calling it a “conspiracy against Sanatan Dharma.” Sharma argued that pollution is only highlighted when the opposition is in power.
Sharma also criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for not fulfilling promises like cleaning the Yamuna River and addressing stubble burning. He accused AAP workers of causing pollution in Punjab.
Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav also criticized Kejriwal for not keeping promises about cleaning the Yamuna and providing free utilities.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government is enforcing a total ban on firecrackers to curb pollution during Diwali. Environment Minister Gopal Rai reported that 79 cases related to firecracker sales have been registered, and 19,005 kg of firecrackers have been seized. Teams from the Revenue Department and Delhi Police are working to enforce the ban.
Gopal Rai launched the ‘Diya Jalao, Patake Nahi’ campaign to encourage celebrating Diwali with diyas instead of firecrackers, aiming to reduce pollution.
