BJP’s Chandrashekhar Bawankule Criticizes NCP’s Nawab Malik in Maharashtra Elections
In Mumbai, Maharashtra, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state president, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, expressed strong opposition to Nawab Malik, a candidate from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar. Malik has filed his nomination from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar. Bawankule reiterated the BJP’s stance, initially stated by Devendra Fadnavis, against Malik’s candidacy.
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya accused Malik of being a terrorist and an agent of Dawood Ibrahim, criticizing the NCP for nominating him. Malik will face Shiv Sena’s Suresh ‘Bullet’ Patil and Samajwadi Party’s Abu Azmi in the elections.
Bawankule addressed the issue of rebel BJP workers who filed nominations independently, stating that efforts are being made to convince them to withdraw by November 4. He also dismissed corruption allegations against Ajit Pawar, claiming they are distractions from real issues.
Bawankule criticized the Congress party for allegedly abandoning the Muslim community and emphasized BJP’s efforts to include them by offering local leaders opportunities to contest elections.
The BJP is part of the Mahayuti alliance with NCP (Ajit Pawar) and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), while the opposing Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance includes Congress, Sharad Pawar’s NCP, and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena. The Maharashtra Assembly elections are set for November 20, with results on November 23.
