BJP Workers Clash with Police in Cooch Behar Over RG Kar Medical College Incident
On Monday, BJP workers clashed with police in Cooch Behar while protesting outside the District Magistrate’s office. The protests were in response to the rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Protests Across West Bengal
Earlier in Siliguri, BJP workers demanded justice for the victim and called for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. A BJP protester stated that they would continue to protest at every block office in Bengal on September 4 and conduct a roadblock on August 6.
In Kolkata, junior doctors demanded the resignation of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal. In Alipurduar, police used water cannons to disperse protesting BJP workers.

The woman trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The case has sparked widespread outrage and protests from doctors demanding better security laws for healthcare professionals.
Investigation and Arrest
The case has been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation following an order from the Calcutta High Court. Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer at the hospital, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
