BJP Wins Third Term in Haryana

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has secured a third consecutive term in Haryana, winning 48 seats in the state assembly elections. This marks the party’s largest victory in Haryana’s assembly polls. The Congress party won 37 seats, while the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secured two seats, and independents won three seats. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who won from Ladwa, expressed gratitude to the people of Haryana and credited Prime Minister Modi for the victory.

Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated that the people have rejected Congress and acknowledged the positive impact of PM Modi’s policies. The elections for the 90-member Haryana assembly took place on October 5.

Omar Abdullah to Lead Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference-Congress alliance achieved a majority, winning 48 seats. The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) led the alliance with 42 seats, while Congress won six seats. The BJP performed strongly, securing 29 seats. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP won three seats, and other parties and independents shared the remaining seats.

Future Plans

NC leader Omar Abdullah is set to become the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. This election was the first since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah emphasized addressing issues like unemployment and inflation and restoring statehood as priorities for the new government.
