BJP Wins Big in Haryana, National Conference-Congress Alliance Leads in Jammu and Kashmir

The BJP is set to form its third consecutive government in Haryana, while the National Conference-Congress alliance is leading in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite predictions, BJP is achieving a significant victory in Haryana, turning it into a stronghold. The Congress, despite anti-incumbency advantages, couldn’t surpass BJP’s support from diverse caste groups. BJP leaders attribute their success to the government’s work over the past decade.

In Haryana, BJP is leading or has won 49 seats, while Congress has 36. The Indian National Lok Dal and Independents have a few seats each. Haryana’s assembly has 90 seats. In Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference is leading with 42 seats, BJP has 29, and Congress has 6. Other parties and Independents hold the remaining seats.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini thanked the people for their support, crediting PM Modi’s leadership. Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar emphasized the positive impact of BJP’s policies. Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda won his seat, and former wrestler Vinesh Phogat celebrated her victory as a win for women.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah expressed happiness over the results, with Omar Abdullah set to become Chief Minister. The elections were the first since the abrogation of Article 370. Mehbooba Mufti congratulated the Congress and National Conference for their performance, acknowledging the people’s desire for a stable government.
