Maharashtra Elections: BJP’s Stand on Candidates
As the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made its position clear regarding candidates in the Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar constituency. BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhyay announced that the party will support Eknath Shinde’s candidate, Suresh Patil, and will not associate with Nawab Malik, a candidate from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
BJP’s Campaign Strategy
Keshav Upadhyay emphasized that the BJP will not campaign for Nawab Malik, who is currently out on bail and has not been proven innocent. The BJP’s Mumbai chief, Ashish Shelar, also confirmed that the party will not support Malik.
Controversial Remarks and Reactions
Upadhyay criticized remarks made by Arvind Sawant and Sunil Raut against BJP leader Shaina NC and Shiv Sena Shinde faction’s candidate Suvarna Karanje. He accused the leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) of mental bankruptcy and highlighted the BJP’s focus on women empowerment.
Shaina NC, a Shiv Sena candidate, condemned Sunil Raut’s derogatory comments about women candidates, urging women in Maharashtra to speak out against such regressive remarks. An FIR has been filed against Sunil Raut for his comments.
