BJP Protests in Kolkata Over Doctor’s Tragic Death
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, including leaders Suvendu Adhikari and Agnimitra Paul, staged a protest on Thursday against the rape and murder of a PG-trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The protest took place outside the hospital premises, and the protesters were later detained by the Kolkata Police.
CBI Seeks Polygraph Test
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has approached the Kolkata High Court for permission to conduct a polygraph test on the ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, and four other doctors. A senior CBI official stated that the test would help verify their statements and corroborate evidence. Dr. Ghosh had previously been questioned about his response to the incident and other related aspects.
AIIMS Delhi Doctors End Strike
Following an appeal from the Supreme Court, health professionals at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi have called off their 11-day strike. The Resident Doctors Association announced that they are resuming their duties in the interest of the nation and public service. They expressed appreciation to the Supreme Court for addressing the safety and security of healthcare workers across the country.
