BJP Protests in Asansol Over RG Kar Incident and Nabanna Abhijan Violence

BJP workers in Asansol staged a protest during a 12-hour Bengal Bandh. They were upset about the police actions at the ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ protest and the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

BJP leader Bappa Chatterjee criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying she should resign if she cannot protect women in the state. He stated, ‘Bengal Bandh is just a trailer if she doesn’t resign.’

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee condemned the bandh, calling it an attempt to defame Bengal. She claimed that the TMC government wants justice for the victims of the RG Kar incident and supported the police’s actions during the Nabanna Abhijan rally.

The BJP called for the bandh after Kolkata police used lathi charge, water cannons, and tear gas against the protestors in the Nabanna Abhijan rally.
