BJP Protests Against Congress in Bengaluru Over Governor’s Decision on CM Siddaramaiah

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a state-wide protest in Karnataka against the Congress for allegedly disrespecting Governor Thawarchand Gehlot. The protest took place at Freedom Park in Bengaluru and was led by Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council. Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan and other BJP leaders and workers also participated.

Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan stated, “It is a fight against corruption, a fight for justice. Urging Congress to take action against its CM Siddaramaiah and ensure that he is immediately dismissed.”

The protests followed the Governor’s decision to sanction prosecution against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the MUDA scam. Siddaramaiah accused the Governor of discrimination, citing delayed action in a similar case involving HD Kumaraswamy. He questioned why the Governor granted immediate permission for his prosecution while delaying action against Kumaraswamy in an illegal mining case.

In a post on X, Siddaramaiah said that the Lokayukta Special Investigation Team (SIT) sought permission for prosecution against Kumaraswamy, but the Governor did not take any action. He added that the SIT had to apply again for permission.

HD Kumaraswamy accused the Congress of vendetta politics, claiming that they wanted to malign him using a dead case. The Karnataka High Court has asked the trial court not to take any precipitative action against Siddaramaiah based on the Governor’s sanction until the next hearing.

Earlier, a complaint was filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna against Siddaramaiah and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
