On July 26, BJP MPs from Karnataka protested in the parliament premises over alleged corruption in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Valmiki Development Corporation. National Spokesperson of the BJP, Sudhanshu Trivedi, accused the Congress government of Karnataka of increasing chaos and corruption, misusing funds meant for the most deprived sections of society.

Trivedi demanded a high-level investigation into the corruption and called for the Chief Minister of Karnataka to take moral responsibility. Former Karnataka Chief Minister and MP Basvaraj Bommai alleged that the Congress looted Rs 1087 crore in the Valmiki Development Corporation case and questioned Rahul Gandhi’s actions during this period.

BJP MP Jagadish Shettar also criticized the Congress, stating that the opposition’s demands for a detailed discussion on the MUDA case were denied. In response, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar defended the Congress, claiming the BJP was trying to destabilize the government and tarnish its image.

The BJP plans to stage a 10-day protest march, or Padyatra, against the alleged scams of the Siddaramaiah government, starting on July 31.
