BJP Prepares for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections with Outreach Programs

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is gearing up for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, likely to be held by September. The party plans to launch several outreach programs to connect with the people and strengthen grassroots support.

Key Meeting Held

On July 4, an important meeting of the BJP Jammu and Kashmir Core Committee was held at the party headquarters. The meeting lasted for about 3 hours and included key leaders such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda, and others. They discussed preparations and strategies for the upcoming elections.

Outreach Programs

The BJP will reach out to people by highlighting the benefits of central schemes and developmental work. Union Ministers will visit Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the polls. The party will also engage with the Pahari community, the Gujar-Bakarwal communities, and other backward classes (OBC).

Upcoming Events

Union Minister JP Nadda will visit Jammu on July 6 to attend the BJP’s working committee meeting. He will communicate with party workers and senior leaders. This meeting is considered very important before the elections.

Background

Jammu and Kashmir is likely to see its first Assembly election in September this year, following the Supreme Court’s timeline. The last assembly election in the erstwhile state was held in 2014. The BJP-led government scrapped Article 370 in August 2019, bifurcating the state into two union territories. There have been demands for early assembly elections and the restoration of statehood.
