On October 21, BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal held a crucial meeting in New Delhi with officials from the Delhi Police and other government organizations. The meeting focused on enhancing security in the markets of Old Delhi, especially with the upcoming Diwali festival on October 31. Khandelwal, who represents the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha Constituency, emphasized the importance of the meeting.

Senior police officers from the three districts within his constituency, along with officials from the Public Works Department and other government bodies, attended the meeting. Discussions centered on maintaining cleanliness and security during the Diwali festival. A coordination committee comprising all departments was formed to meet monthly. An immediate action plan was devised to clean the markets, manage traffic, and prevent any incidents.

Khandelwal stated that if necessary, additional private security would be deployed. Rajeev Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic North-East, highlighted the maximum deployment of traffic staff to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion. He also mentioned the seizure of vehicles aged 10-15 years to address pollution concerns. The traffic department is ready to support the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and local police as needed.
