New Delhi [India], September 8: Amid talks of a possible alliance between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for the Haryana Assembly polls, BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal called both parties ‘political opportunists.’ Speaking at a BJP membership drive in Delhi, Khandelwal asserted that the AAP-Congress alliance would not impact BJP’s chances.

‘Aam Aadmi Party and Congress had an alliance in Delhi in the Lok Sabha elections, but BJP won all seven seats in Delhi. Their alliance will not make any difference to the BJP,’ Kandelwal said. ‘Wherever they find convenience, they form alliances; wherever they don’t, they fight against each other. This is not a natural alliance; this is political opportunism that AAP and Congress practice. People are aware of it and they will reject both parties,’ he added.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitin Prasada, during his visit to Haryana’s Panchkula, expressed confidence in BJP’s victory. ‘The double-engine is going on in Haryana. Under PM leadership, BJP formed the government for the third time in the country. BJP will also form the government in Haryana for the third time and we will win with a record margin from Panchkula Assembly constituency,’ Prasada said.

On the potential AAP-Congress alliance, AAP MP Raghav Chadha refrained from commenting on seat-sharing talks but expressed both parties’ willingness to form an alliance. ‘I do not want to make any statement on personal statements or individual seats. I can only tell you that both parties have a desire, a wish, and hope for an alliance. The last date for nomination is September 12. We will take a decision before then. If we don’t agree or if there is no win-win situation, we will leave it. Talks are going on in a positive environment. Good discussions are happening. I am confident and hopeful that a good conclusion will come out of the talks in the interest of Haryana, the country, and democracy,’ Chadha said.

The last date for filing nominations for Haryana polls is September 12, with voting scheduled for October 5. The counting of votes will be held on October 8.
