BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya Criticizes Karnataka Government for Blocking CBI Investigations
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India – BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya expressed his disappointment on Thursday over the Karnataka government’s decision to withdraw general consent for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to operate in the state. He described the move as “very shameful” and a serious concern for the Congress high command.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar defended the decision, stating that it was made to prevent the misuse of CBI’s power. He mentioned that this decision aligns with the stance of opposition parties across the country.
Former Minister and Congress leader TB Jayachandra supported the decision, calling it a good move to prevent the misuse of power by the CBI. Congress MLA Dr. Ranganath also welcomed the decision, claiming that agencies like CBI, IT, and ED have become tools for the BJP.
HK Patil pointed out that the CBI is not needed in the MUDA case, as the Special Court has already ordered an investigation by Lokayukta. He also mentioned that no communication should go to the Governor without cabinet approval and advice.
On Wednesday, a Special Court in Bengaluru ordered the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over allegations of illegal allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to his wife Parvathi by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
