BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya expressed his disappointment over the Karnataka government’s decision to withdraw general consent for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to operate in the state. He described the move as ‘very shameful’ and a matter of serious concern for the Congress high command.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar defended the decision, stating that it was made to prevent the misuse of CBI’s power. He mentioned that this decision aligns with actions taken by opposition parties across the country.

Former Minister and Congress leader TB Jayachandra praised the decision, stating it was necessary to prevent the misuse of power by the CBI. Congress MLA Dr. Ranganath also supported the move, claiming that agencies like CBI, IT, and ED have become tools for the BJP.

HK Patil pointed out that the CBI is not relevant in the MUDA case, as the Special Court has already ordered an investigation by the Lokayukta. He also mentioned that no communication should be sent to the Governor without cabinet approval.

On Wednesday, a Special Court in Bengaluru directed the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate allegations against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the illegal allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to his wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
