BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Challenges AAP Leaders
Allegations Against Investigation Agencies
In New Delhi, Bansuri Swaraj, a Member of Parliament and Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), addressed claims made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders. She stated that leaders like Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia accuse the BJP of misusing central investigation agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). However, they have not provided any court-backed evidence to support these allegations.
Claims of Misuse and Bail Conditions
Swaraj highlighted that AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh, and Manish Sisodia, are out on bail under strict conditions. She noted that in court, they did not argue that the BJP was attempting to dismantle their party. Instead, they sought bail on personal liberty grounds, as their trials had not commenced. The bail conditions included bonds of Rs 20 lakhs and restrictions on entering their offices.
Challenge to Prove Allegations
Swaraj challenged the AAP leaders to prove their claims of agency misuse in court. She questioned why, if there was no case against them, they have not had their cases dismissed and have instead opted for bail. She also mentioned that AAP leaders claim their homes have been raided without finding incriminating evidence.
Political Motivation Claims
Regarding the ED raids on Sanjiv Arora’s establishments, Swaraj suggested that if AAP leaders believe these are politically motivated, they should present their case in court rather than holding press conferences. She reminded Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia that one of their bail conditions prohibits them from commenting on the liquor scam cases, yet they continue to do so.
