New Delhi [India], August 19: BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj tied Rakhi to Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on the occasion of Rakshabandhan on Monday. Swaraj emphasized that Raksha Bandhan is a festival of unbreakable trust and affection between brothers and sisters.

She appealed to all sons of India to protect not only their sisters but also other women, who are the pride and dreams of their families.

Sachdeva highlighted that Raksha Bandhan is about a brother’s promise to protect his sister, a tradition rooted in Indian culture and religion. He mentioned that the festival is also referenced in the Mahabharata era, where Lord Krishna advised Yudhishthira to tie a Raksha Sutra to all soldiers for victory.

Earlier in the day, Rajnath Singh celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Usha Rana from Rashtriya Sainik Sansthan and students from Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School at his residence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people on the occasion, wishing for everyone’s happiness and prosperity. He expressed his best wishes on X, hoping the festival brings sweetness to relationships and good fortune in life.

President Droupadi Murmu also extended her greetings, emphasizing the festival’s foundation of love and mutual trust between siblings. She wished for affection and respect towards all sisters and daughters.

Raksha Bandhan, commonly known as Rakhi, is a traditional Hindu festival celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie a rakhi around their brothers’ wrists, and brothers offer gifts in return as a symbol of love and care.
