BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Blames AAP Government for Deaths of UPSC Aspirants in Delhi Flooding

New Delhi, India – BJP Lok Sabha MP Bansuri Swaraj has accused the AAP government of being responsible for the deaths of three UPSC aspirants due to flooding in the basement of an IAS Coaching Centre in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. She made these remarks during a press conference with BJP Delhi Chief Virendraa Sachdeva.

Bansuri Swaraj criticized the AAP government, particularly MLA Durgesh Pathak and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, for failing to clean the drains and maintain infrastructure, which she believes could have prevented the tragedy. She stated, “MCD is under the Aam Aadmi Party, and Delhi Jal Board is under the Aam Aadmi Party…cleaning the drains and repairing the roads are all under the Kejriwal government. When the MLA is of AAP, the department is under AAP in that place; why wasn’t the drain cleaned? This was a tragedy that could have been easily averted.”

In response, AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged a conspiracy against the people of Delhi and pointed to corruption in de-silting operations. He claimed that despite providing evidence and complaints, no action was taken by LG VK Saexna against the negligent officers from various departments, including PWD, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department.

Bansuri Swaraj dismissed Bharadwaj’s allegations, questioning his focus on transfer postings instead of addressing the issue directly. She said, “Is Saurabh Bharadwaj such a small Minister of Delhi? … This issue is not related to transfer posting. If every department is under their rule, why is their focus on the transfer posting of the authorities? …They only make excuses whenever there is talk about Delhi’s development.”

Earlier, the police identified the victims as Shreya Yadav from Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh; Tanya Soni from Telangana; and Nivin Dalwin from Ernakulam, Kerala. The bodies were sent to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for an autopsy. The Delhi Police have arrested the owner and the coordinator of the coaching centre, placing them in 14 days of judicial custody.
