New Delhi [India], August 7: BJP MP Anurag Thakur criticized Congress leader Salman Khurshid for his comments on the Bangladesh protest, accusing Congress of wanting to create chaos in India. Thakur said, “Facing loss for three times in a row, Congress wants to push the country into a state of anarchy… They can do anything to take the country back in time. Such statements by Congress leaders show the mentality of the party and its leaders. I want to ask Congress; do they agree with this statement made by Salman Khurshid?”

Meanwhile, Salman Khurshid refused to elaborate on his statement, saying, “I say whatever I say in public, never in private.”

BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla also criticized Khurshid, accusing him of trying to provoke the public. Poonawalla said, “Congress party says that it stands with the government of India as far as the issue of Bangladesh is concerned because this is not a political issue and no politics should be done but their leader Salman Khurshid tried to provoke and incite the people of India.”

Amid the unrest in Bangladesh, the Indian High Commission remains operational, with non-essential staff returning to India. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar assured that the government is in close contact with the Indian community in Dhaka, noting that most students returned to India in July.
