BJP MLAs in Madhya Pradesh Propose to Abolish Article 30 for Equal Education

BJP MLAs from Madhya Pradesh have proposed a resolution to abolish Article 30 of the Indian Constitution, which grants minorities the right to establish and manage educational institutions. The resolution was moved by Abhilash Pandey, the BJP MLA from Jabalpur North assembly constituency.

Abhilash Pandey’s Statement

Abhilash Pandey emphasized the need for a law that ensures equal education for everyone. He believes that equal education is essential for building the future of the coming generation. Pandey stated, “I have moved a Private Members’ Resolution regarding Article 30 of the Indian constitution which gives the right to minorities to establish and administer educational institutions. I think that there should be a law for equal education. Everyone should get an equal education, then only we can build the future of the coming generation.”

Support from Usha Thakur

BJP MLA Usha Thakur supported the resolution, arguing that it is necessary for the unity and integrity of the country. She said, “I welcome the Private Members’ Resolution brought regarding Madrasas. For the unity and integrity of the country, such activities should be stopped. Our capable schools can provide modern education, hence there is no need for Madrasas separately.” Thakur also mentioned that the Government of India would be requested to issue an order to close these madrasas.

Opposition’s Response

Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar criticized the BJP for focusing on communal issues instead of addressing farmers’ rights and other state issues. He said, “Bharatiya Janata Party always wants to talk about communal issues. Why don’t they want to talk about the farmers of the state? Shouldn’t farmers get a minimum support price (MSP)? Shouldn’t Farmers get their rights? The state government is making false promises.”

Congress MLA Atif Aqeel accused the BJP of using this resolution to divert attention from a nursing college scam. He said, “The BJP MLAs were taking such steps to save themselves from the nursing college scam though it will not lead to anything. Innocent children study in madrasas who have difficulty even getting two meals a day. The principals and responsible authorities are running it with the help of donations.”

Reacting to Usha Thakur’s remarks connecting madrasas with terrorism, Aqeel said, “Nothing can be done about the virus in her mind.”
