BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar Questions Rahul Gandhi’s Caste in Lok Sabha Debate

Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar questioned the caste of Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, alleging he is the ‘grandson of Feroze Khan and his mother is a Christian.’ This came after a heated exchange between BJP MP Anurag Thakur and Rahul Gandhi over the issue of caste census during the Union Budget discussion.

Gurjar stated, ‘They think that the increase in their number of seats is due to Rahul Gandhi…Spreading communalism is in their nature. They did not say anything about development during their entire election campaign. People have understood this, and the illusion has now broken.’

He also questioned the Hindu credentials of Rahul Gandhi and demanded that his membership be scrapped. ‘I would like to ask Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav: tell us the caste of Rahul Gandhi. What would the grandson of Feroze Khan be?’ Gurjar added.

Gurjar further stated that there should be a caste census in the country and that they were not against it. ‘There should be a caste census; we are not against it. But if someone like Rahul Gandhi speaks about caste…He has no caste,’ he added.

The exchange began when Anurag Thakur entered into a heated argument with Rahul Gandhi during his speech in the Lower House of Parliament, saying, ‘He (Rahul Gandhi) talks about OBC, he talks about the census, those whose caste is not known are asking for the caste census.’ Thakur further added, ‘In this parliament, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi protested against giving reservations to OBCs.’

Rahul Gandhi responded, ‘You can insult me every day, but keep in mind that the caste census will be passed here (Lok Sabha) one day.’
