Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 13: Former Madhya Pradesh Minister and BJP MLA Hardeep Singh Dang criticized Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks on the Sikh community during his visit to the US. Dang demanded an apology from Gandhi, calling his comments painful and condemnable.

Dang stated, “It is very painful and condemnable that whenever Rahul Gandhi goes abroad, he returns insulting India. Rahul Gandhi’s remark on the Sikh community is very painful. I believe there is respect for the Sikh community across the globe but if he speaks such things then it is shameful.”

When asked about former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi supporting Gandhi, Dang said, “Channi should place a ‘Chhanni’ (filter) in his mind and he is appreciating Rahul Gandhi to save himself. One should ask him what Jagdish Tytler and Kamal Nath are doing at your party? What he would like to say on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots? He should give these answers first. You can’t do politics by adulating Rahul Gandhi. You should come forward and say to Rahul Gandhi that it is wrong.”

Dang also condemned pro-Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s support for Gandhi’s remarks, stating, “How shameful it is that when Pannun is supporting Rahul Gandhi, it is clear that the feelings of Rahul Gandhi and Pannun are the same.”

He added, “I demand that Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the nation. If he doesn’t do so then we will oppose him as the Sikh community has always supported the truth. I believe that the 1984 anti-Sikh riots are in front of him and terrorist organizations are supporting him, so the country is watching him and he should apologise to the nation.”

Rahul Gandhi, during his interaction with the Indian diaspora in the US, had said, “The fight is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a turban in India and would be able to visit a Gurdwara. The fight is not about politics. It is superficial. The fight is about whether he, as a Sikh, is going to be allowed to wear his turban in India. Or he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a kada in India. Or a Sikh is going to be able to go to Gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about, and not just for him, for all religions.”
