BJP MLA Bharath Shetty Criticizes Rahul Gandhi for Anti-Hindu Remarks
Mangaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 9: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Bharath Shetty has sparked controversy by saying that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should be “slapped” for his alleged anti-Hindu remarks. Speaking at a protest march in Mangaluru, Shetty accused Congress leaders of promoting violence, hatred, and lies while claiming to be Hindus.
Shetty criticized Rahul Gandhi for holding a picture of the Hindu god Shiva and accused him of changing his stance based on the region he visits. He said, “When he comes to Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi becomes an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. When he goes to Tamil Nadu, he becomes an atheist. When he goes to Kerala, he becomes secular.”
Shetty also commented on Rahul Gandhi’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections, stating that Gandhi’s claim of a great achievement after securing only 99 seats was unfounded.
Rahul Gandhi’s speech in the Lok Sabha, which accused the BJP and RSS of spreading violence and hatred, led to portions of his address being expunged from the records of Parliament. Gandhi also described the Hindu symbol ‘Abhayamudra’ as the symbol of the Congress party, emphasizing its message of fearlessness, reassurance, and safety.
