Hathras Stampede: Leaders Respond to Tragedy
Asim Arun’s Statement
BJP MLA Asim Arun from Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj and MoS Social Welfare and SC/ST Welfare stated that the chaos created by the organizers led to the Hathras stampede. He assured that action will be taken against those found guilty.
Arun said, “The Hathras incident happened due to the chaos created by the organizers, and the politics of the opposition is wrong.” He added that the first priority was to rescue the injured and help families identify the deceased.
Investigation Underway
A judicial inquiry commission, led by Justice (retd) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava, has been formed to investigate the incident. The commission will submit its report within two months.
Rahul Gandhi’s Visit
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi visited the families affected by the stampede, urging Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to provide fair compensation. Gandhi met with the bereaved families and expressed his condolences, emphasizing the need for maximum compensation for the victims.
Incident Details
The stampede occurred during a religious event in Fulari village, Hathras, when devotees tried to collect soil from the preacher’s feet and were stopped by security personnel, leading to chaos. The tragedy claimed 121 lives.
