BJP Leaders Respond to Baba Siddique’s Killing in Maharashtra
In New Delhi, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi addressed the opposition’s criticism of the Maharashtra state government regarding the killing of Baba Siddique. Naqvi emphasized that politicizing such incidents reflects a non-serious political approach to sensitive issues. BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh also condemned the politicization of the incident, stating that spreading fear for political gain is unfortunate. He confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister closely monitoring the situation. Two suspects have been apprehended, and Chugh appealed for politics to be kept out of the matter.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his shock and sadness over the incident, highlighting his personal connection with Baba Siddique. Fadnavis, who oversees the Home Department, mentioned that the police will provide updates after obtaining custody of the accused. He noted that while various theories are circulating, the investigation is still in progress.
The Mumbai Crime Branch reported that six bullets were fired at Siddique, with three hitting him. A third suspect has been identified and will be arrested soon. Doctors at Lilavati Hospital confirmed that Siddique sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest before being admitted for emergency treatment.
