BJP Leaders Demand Resignation of CM Mamata Banerjee Over Kolkata Doctor’s Tragic Case
BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul and other leaders are calling for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following the tragic rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
Protests and Demands
During a protest outside the hospital, Agnimitra Paul stated, “We are protesting to ensure the safety of every citizen. We want every citizen in West Bengal to be safe.” She also called for the resignation of Mamata Banerjee, citing a loss of confidence in her leadership.
BJP MP Saumitra Khan echoed these sentiments, demanding the arrest of the Kolkata Police Commissioner and the team that informed the victim’s family of a suicide. He expressed concerns that the police were trying to cover up the case.

BJP leader CR Kesavan also claimed that Mamata Banerjee had lost the confidence of the people and should resign. National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused the TMC of trying to protect the accused.
Supreme Court and CBI Involvement
The Supreme Court has taken notice of the case and formed a National Task Force to recommend guidelines for the safety of medical professionals. A CBI investigation is currently underway, with a team already conducting checks at the hospital.
