BJP Leaders Criticize Mamata Banerjee Over Trainee Doctor’s Tragic Death in Kolkata
BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. He stated that the Kolkata High Court has no faith in the state government, leading to the CBI taking over the investigation.
Poonawalla asked Mamata Banerjee to take responsibility and resign, saying, “When will Mamata Banerjee take responsibility for the incident? When will she tender her resignation? There is no moral authority, legal authority or constitutional propriety left for Mamata Banerjee to continue as Chief Minister of West Bengal for even a minute.”
He further accused Banerjee of failing the citizens of West Bengal and criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for having an anti-Hindu mindset. Another BJP MP, Sangeeta Yadav, also demanded Banerjee’s resignation, emphasizing the need for moral responsibility and harsh punishment for the culprits.
Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar stated that the BJP would continue its protest against Banerjee, questioning her motives for leading a protest rally herself. The tragic incident has led to widespread outrage and protests by doctors across the country, who are demanding justice and the implementation of the Central Protection Act in all hospitals.
