BJP Leaders Criticize Congress Leader Mallikarjun Kharge Over Land Allotment Controversy
New Delhi, India – August 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have criticized Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge following allegations of land allotment in Aerospace Park near Bengaluru to a trust run by Kharge’s family.
Questions Raised by BJP Leaders
BJP leader Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan raised concerns about the land allocation to the Kharge Family Trust, questioning whether the guidelines were followed. He stated, “The complaint is that the guidelines have not been followed. Favouritism has happened, particularly to help the Kharge family. So they are under scrutiny.”
Another BJP leader, Gaurav Bhatia, demanded Kharge’s resignation, stating, “He should resign immediately because he is the president and his family has been accused of this scam.” Bhatia also criticized Kharge’s son, Priyank Kharge, and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, calling for their resignations over various alleged scams.
Response from Priyank Kharge
Priyank Kharge, Karnataka IT/BT and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, denied the allegations, stating that the site allotted was not for industrial or commercial purposes. He clarified that the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) did not provide any subsidy or relaxation to the trust run by his family.
Ongoing Controversy
The allegations against Kharge and his family come amidst an ongoing controversy involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. On August 17, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot sanctioned the prosecution of Siddaramaiah over a disputed land allocation under a Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scheme to his wife.
