The Union Cabinet has approved the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, which aims to hold simultaneous Lok Sabha, Assembly, urban body, and panchayat elections within 100 days. BJP leaders have praised this decision, highlighting its potential to speed up development and reduce costs.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh noted that the country had One Nation, One Election for several years after Independence and emphasized the need for this system for the country’s development.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini congratulated Prime Minister Modi, stating that the proposal will increase the speed of development and reduce expenditure.

Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra called it a historic day, noting that the proposal is a dream of PM Modi and millions of Indians, and will save time and money.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari mentioned that PM Modi has implemented the vision of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, and the people of India support the Cabinet’s approval.

Committee and Report

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accepted the recommendations of the High-Level Committee on Simultaneous Elections, led by former President Shri Ram Nath Kovind. The report, consisting of 18,626 pages, is the result of extensive consultations with stakeholders, experts, and research over 191 days.
