Tragic Deaths in Delhi Coaching Institute Flooding
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], July 28: BJP leader V Muraleedharan criticized the Delhi administration after three students died in a flooded coaching institute basement, calling it a sign of poor governance. He said, “This shows the pitiable state of the Delhi administration. The AAP, which is ruling the corporation and Delhi government, did not make sure that the basic amenities are arranged before giving permission for such institutions to come up.”
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi called the incident “the height of negligence and mismanagement.” In a post on X, she said, “This is criminal and irresponsible. Accountability for this should be fixed and most importantly, every construction, every activity that is illegal and life-threatening should be rectified in the areas where competitive students live.”
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government of “criminal negligence” and held the ruling party responsible for the deaths. He stated, “It is not just an accident, it is a murder committed by the Aam Aadmi Party. It is criminal negligence. The question is who will take the responsibility. There have been several deaths. Do the lives of the people of Delhi hold no value?”
Delhi police on Sunday arrested two persons, the owner and coordinator of the IAS coaching centre, where basement flooding due to rains claimed the lives of three students in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar. The victims have been identified as Shreya Yadav from Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh; Tanya Soni from Telangana; and Nivin Dalwin from Ernakulam, Kerala. The incident comes days after a UPSC aspirant was electrocuted on a waterlogged street in the national capital.
