BJP Leader Shaina NC Responds to Uddhav Thackeray’s ‘Power Jihad’ Remark
New Delhi, India – BJP leader Shaina NC has strongly criticized Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray for his ‘power jihad’ comment, calling it a ‘childish’ statement. Shaina NC emphasized that in a democracy, voters decide the outcome of elections and reminded Thackeray that his MPs were elected in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name.
Shaina NC accused Thackeray of betraying the BJP while he was in power, despite receiving votes due to PM Modi’s influence. She claimed that Thackeray conspired against the BJP and threatened to imprison Devendra Fadnavis, which did not happen due to public support.
She further criticized Thackeray for allegedly allowing Pakistani flags at his meetings in Nashik and Mumbai, contrasting this with the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray, who would never have allied with Congress for power.
Shaina NC expressed confidence that the people of the state would vote for Prime Minister Modi and Devendra Fadnavis, ensuring the BJP’s return to power. She highlighted the stability and security provided by the Mahayuti alliance, which avoids divisive vote bank politics.
This response follows Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement at a BJP conclave in Pune, where he labeled the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance as an ‘Aurangzeb fan club’ led by Thackeray.
On August 3, Uddhav Thackeray criticized Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, stating that the political battle in Mumbai would determine who stays in power. Thackeray made these remarks while addressing party workers in Pune, accompanied by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut.
Maharashtra is expected to hold elections for its 288-member legislative assembly later this year, with the current government’s term ending in 2024. The Election Commission has yet to announce the dates.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP’s seat count in Maharashtra dropped to nine from 23, with a vote share of 26.18 percent. The Congress slightly increased its seats to 13, while the Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) secured seven and one seats, respectively. The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) won nine seats, and the NCP – Sharadchandra Pawar won eight seats.
