BJP Leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar Criticizes Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks in the US
Rangareddy (Telangana) [India], September 12: BJP leader and former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has strongly criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments in the US regarding reservation and the Sikh community. Speaking in Telangana’s Rangareddy district, Chandrasekhar accused Gandhi of supporting those who oppose India.
Chandrasekhar stated, “If you had asked me 10 days ago what would Rahul Gandhi say, or do in the USA, I could have predicted to you. He will go on a stage with people who are against India. He will say things that are against India and he will say pathological lies day in and day out.” He added, “This is an India that is moving forward. He (Rahul Gandhi) speaks for those who are against India. I call it a politics of lies vs our politics of development.”
Chandrasekhar attended the BJP’s membership drive in Rangareddy earlier in the day.
On September 9, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, mentioned that the Congress party would consider scrapping reservations when India becomes a “fair place.” He made these remarks while interacting with students and faculty at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Gandhi also emphasized the need for a caste census, highlighting that 90% of the country’s population—OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis—lack proper representation.
During his interaction with the Indian diaspora in the US, Gandhi said, “First of all, you have to understand what the fight is about. Fight is not about politics. It is superficial. What is your name? The fight is about whether he, as a Sikh, is going to be allowed to wear his turban in India. Or he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a kada in India. Or a Sikh is going to be able to go to Gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about and not just for him, for all religions.”
Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah criticized Gandhi’s comments, stating that speaking ‘anti-national’ things has become a habit of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. Shah said, “Speaking anti-national things and standing with forces that break the country has become a habit of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. Whether it is supporting the anti-national and anti-reservation agenda of the JKNC in Jammu and Kashmir, or speaking anti-India things on foreign forums, Rahul Gandhi has always hurt the security and sentiments of the country.”
