BJP Leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar Criticizes Congress Over Women’s Safety Allegations
New Delhi, India, September 2: BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar has criticized Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi for not taking action on women’s safety within their party. This follows allegations by former Congress leader Simi Rose Bell John about exploitation in the Congress party.
Chandrasekhar stated, “This is a very shameful example of what the Congress really is. The Congress party, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi, before the elections, will talk about women’s safety. They will make tall claims about protecting the constitutional rights and the dignity of women. When it comes to after election, in their own party, there are people who look for justice.”
He added that a woman leader from Kerala Congress, Simi Rose Bell John, claimed she was harassed and her complaint was not investigated. Instead, she was dismissed from the party. Chandrasekhar emphasized that this shows the true colors of Congress, accusing them of speaking one thing before elections and doing the opposite afterward.
Chandrasekhar also highlighted the recent release of the HEMA committee report by the Kerala government, which exposed extensive exploitation and harassment of women in the film industry. He drew attention to Simi Rose Bell John’s allegations of a casting couch in the Kerala Congress and her subsequent dismissal from the party.
Chandrasekhar further narrated that Simi Rose Bell John said, “In the Congress party, there is no place for upright people.” He criticized the Congress for not constituting a committee to investigate her harassment allegations, as required by law.
Notably, Simi Rose Bell John was expelled from the party following her alleged derogatory remarks against women leaders of the Congress in an interview with a private TV channel. Kerala Congress Chief K Sudhakaran stated that the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) will investigate a complaint filed by the Mahila Congress against Simi Rose Bell John for her remarks.
