BJP Leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over Tamil Nadu Hooch Tragedy

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], June 24: BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar has criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi regarding the hooch tragedy in Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu. Chandrasekhar questioned Rahul Gandhi on the steps Congress is demanding from the DMK government, including the resignation of the Tamil Nadu Excise Minister.

Chandrasekhar stated, “One of the biggest tragedies is the hooch tragedy in Tamil Nadu. It is shocking that Rahul’s Congress, who talks about protecting people’s rights, has not spoken about their INDI Alliance partner’s government in Tamil Nadu.” He further asked if Congress would demand the resignation of the Excise Minister and how they plan to mitigate the losses of the victims’ families.

Chandrasekhar added, “This belief that giving money can compensate families who lost loved ones is a shame. Rahul Gandhi needs to address this tragedy and explain how he will support the families of the 56 deceased.”

Earlier, Tamil Nadu BJP leaders, led by state party president K Annamalai, met Governor R N Ravi at Raj Bhavan regarding the tragedy. AIADMK leaders, led by Opposition Party leader Edappadi Palaniswami, also protested against the DMK-led state government in Kallakurichi.

The number of deaths due to illicit liquor in Tamil Nadu has risen to 57, with 156 people undergoing treatment at various government hospitals.
