BJP Leader N Ramchander Rao Criticizes Congress Over PM Modi’s Visit to Wayanad
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 11: BJP leader N Ramchander Rao criticized the Congress party for senior leader Shashi Tharoor’s comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to landslide-hit Wayanad. Rao accused the Congress of engaging in petty politics and trying to politicize the Prime Minister’s visit.
Rao stated, “The Congress party is stooping to low-level politics and is trying to politicize everything. PM Modi’s visit to Wayanad is based on the damage done to the area and the report that the government of India received.”
He added, “Instead of appreciating the visit, Congress leaders, mainly Shashi Tharoor, are politicizing it and saying that he should have visited earlier.”
Rao also criticized Rahul Gandhi, saying, “Rahul Gandhi himself visited the area much later after the disaster. Why don’t the party members question their own leaders? Moreover, Rahul Gandhi’s visit was only a photoshoot.”
This criticism came after Shashi Tharoor said it would have been better if the Prime Minister had visited earlier. Tharoor hoped that PM Modi’s visit would lead to the area being declared a national disaster, allowing for appropriate assistance.
Earlier, PM Modi assured all assistance for relief and rehabilitation after inspecting the landslide-hit areas in Wayanad, Kerala. He conducted an aerial survey and visited the affected areas with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Union Minister Suresh Gopi, and Kerala ADGP MR Ajith Kumar. PM Modi met with injured individuals and survivors in relief camps and reassured that the Central Government and the country are with the disaster-affected victims.
