On Thursday, BJP leader Madhavi Latha visited the Tirumala temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, and offered prayers. During her visit, she criticized former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy over the Prasadam controversy. She questioned why Reddy did not build a ‘gaushala’ to provide pure ghee for the temple, despite the temple receiving Rs 1300 crores.

Madhavi Latha said, “We just want to ask Jagan Mohan Reddy, despite this wrongdoing happening 18 times, why did you not bring this matter to us? I want to ask him why he did not build a ‘gaushala’ that could provide pure ghee to the Tirumala temple with the Rs 1300 crores that came to the temple for laddus…Today your mistakes are coming out.”

She also expressed concerns about people of different religions and faiths insulting Sanatana Dharma and Hindus, and asked for repentance and an end to such actions.

Special Investigation Team Formed

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi announced that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the alleged use of ‘animal fat’ in the preparation of the Tirupati Laddu Prasadam.

Controversy Over Tirupati Prasadam

The controversy began when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu claimed that substandard ingredients, including animal fat, were used in the preparation of Tirupati laddus during the previous YSRCP government. In response, the YSRCP has urged devotees to participate in temple poojas on September 28 to restore the sanctity of Tirumala, which they claim was tarnished by Naidu.

The Bharatiya Janta Party has demanded that former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy declare his faith before his planned visit to the temple on September 28.
