BJP Leader Jitendra Singh Says Party Needs No Help in Jammu and Kashmir Elections

Union Minister and BJP leader Jitendra Singh announced during a campaign in Budhal, Jammu and Kashmir, that his party does not require assistance from other parties in the ongoing assembly elections. He emphasized, “We fought the election alone. We don’t want any help from others.”

This statement came after BJP leader Devender Singh Rana mentioned that NC leader Farooq Abdullah always wanted to align with the central government. Rana said, “Farooq Abdullah was abroad and he asked Omar Abdullah to go and talk to the BJP and stay in Government somehow.”

Jitendra Singh was campaigning for party candidate Choudhary Zulfkar Ali. He noted that although BJP did not have an MLA from Budhal last time, the government still implemented various development and welfare schemes in the region.

The first phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir saw a voter turnout of 61.13%, with Kishtwar district recording the highest turnout at 80.14%. The elections are the first since the abrogation of Article 370, and several political parties and independents are competing. NCP and Congress have formed a pre-poll alliance but are also contesting some seats independently.

Voting for the second and third phases will be held on September 25 and October 1, respectively, with votes being counted on October 8.
