New Delhi [India], July 1: BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia launched a strong criticism against the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal. This came after a video surfaced showing two people, including a woman, being beaten in broad daylight in Chopra, Uttar Dinajpur.

Bhatia described the situation as ‘jungle-raj’ and accused Mamata Banerjee of protecting TMC goons. He demanded that Banerjee, as a woman and Chief Minister, should condemn the incident and resign.

BJP MP Sukanta Mazumdar alleged that the arrested accused, Tajmul Haque, is an aide of TMC MLA Hamidur Rehman. Mazumdar criticized Rehman for defending the incident by comparing it to laws in Muslim countries.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also condemned the incident, calling it ‘Taliban-style’ justice. He accused the TMC of having a ‘Talibani Mindset and Culture.’

Meanwhile, women MLAs from West Bengal BJP, including Agnimitra Paul, protested outside the State Assembly. The police have arrested Tajmul Haque and are investigating the case. They assured that the victim has been provided police security and warned against misinformation about the incident.
