Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 24: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader CR Kesavan criticized the Congress for their reaction to the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Kesavan stated that the opposition parties lack credible intention, policy, and leadership.

Kesavan said, “This budget strongly signals that ‘New India’ is firmly on the move… As far as the crooked Congress and the unprincipled opposition is concerned, they have no credibility. They lack a credible intention, policy, and leader.” He claimed that people have rejected the Congress party’s unscrupulous politics of opportunism, leading to their defeat in the last three Lok Sabha elections.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her seventh consecutive Union Budget 2024-25, outlining key priorities aimed at fostering economic growth and creating opportunities. The priorities include productivity and resilience in agriculture, employment skills, and services.

Sitharaman introduced an increased standard deduction and revised tax rates for salaried individuals under the new tax regime. She announced significant income-tax reforms aimed at simplifying tax laws and promoting compliance. The budget also proposes creating employment for about 4.1 crore youth over the next five years, with an allocation of Rs 2 lakh crore. Additionally, Rs 1.48 crore is allocated for skilling 20 lakh youth over five years, and 1,000 industrial training institutes will be upgraded.
